BOSTON -- Left-hander Felix Doubront (3-2, 5.61) will make his ninth appearance, his eighth start of the season, in today's series finale against the Indians. One of the issues the Sox have been working on with Doubront is his pitch efficiency. On May 8 he needed 105 pitches to get through 5 1/3 innings against the Twins. On May 16, he threw 104 pitches in five innings at Tampa Bay. But, in his last outing, May 21 at Chicago, despite taking a loss, he threw just 85 pitches in six innings.

Farrell said pitching coach Juan Nieves has worked with Doubront before the left-hander’s most recent outings on his delivery and mechanics. In his last two outings, Doubront has pitched 11 innings, giving up four earned runs on eight hits and eight walks with 10 strikeouts and two home runs.
In three career starts against the Indians, he is 2-1 with a 4.11 ERA, giving up seven earned runs over 15 1/3 innings. He faced the Indians on April 16, earning the win after giving up two runs on four hits and four walks with seven strikeouts over five innings. This will be just his second career start against the Indians at Fenway Park. In his first start against them at home, on May 12, 2012, he gave up one run on three hits and two walks in six innings.
