BOSTONEarly on, Felix Doubront looked like he was in for a long and unpleasant evening.Derek Jeter opened the game by reaching first and then taking second on two errors charged to third baseman Mauro Gomez on the same play. Curtis Granderson then bunted for a hit, bringing up Mark Teixeira, who unloaded on Doubronts second pitch, a 1-0 changeup, for his 15th home run of the season."I was just thinking go deep in the game, Doubront said, of what was going through his mind at that point.Doubront got the next three batters, Robinson Cano, Nick Swisher, and Andruw Jones, to groundout to Pedro Ciriaco at shortstop. He settled down after that, retiring 18 of the next 20 batters and holding the Yankees scoreless until Andruw Jones led off the seventh with his 10th home run of the season, and third of the day.Doubront earned the win, improving to 9-4 with a 4.41 ERA, as the Sox beat the Yankees 9-5 to earn a split of their doubleheader at Fenway Park. Doubront went 6 13 innings, giving up four runs, three earned, on four hits and walk with six strikeouts. He now leads the Sox in wins.He gave up three in the first. Not a lot of his own fault, even though the two-strike pitch to Jeter wasnt where he wanted it, said manager Bobby Valentine. The ball went off of Gomezs chest and then the bunt and then the second-pitch changeup to Teixeira. But after that he was aces and he was determined.I talked to him and said, You know were going to score runs. If you want to win, just hold them. And we scored runs and he wanted to win and he held them."Doubront has nine quality starts in 16 outings this season, and seven in his last 12. He now has 97 strikeouts in 96.0 innings, for a 9.09 strikeouts-per-nine-innings ratio.
