The home run derby – one of the great pastimes of America’s pastime.

But has it grown stale? Is the contest, that always takes place the night before the MLB All-Star Game, now longer one of the most anticipated events on the baseball calendar?

Rich Levine believes so, and proposed a revised home run derby on CSNNE’s The Show. Levine’s vision is similar to that of what the NBA or NHL does the night before their respective All-Star games, with not one event in particular but rather a skills competition. Aside from the home run derby, there would be contests in various infield, running, and throwing drills, spicing up the night.

So what do you think? Do you think changes need to be made to the home run derby?
