BOSTON - For the past three games, Will Middlebrooks has started at third base against a lefty and Brock Holt has made two starts against an opposing righty.

But despite the evidence, John Farrell insists there isn't a platoon at third base.

"I wouldn't pin a platoon on it,'' said Farrell. "But finding at-bats for Brock is going to come from the left side of the infield as well as center field. He's earned those at-bats. So, the better way to describe it is, from those three positions, he's going to get nearly every day at-bats."

Middlebrooks got the start Friday when the Yankees had lefty Chris Capuano starting. But Holt was there Saturday when the righthander Shane Greene started and again Sunday night when the Yanks had David Phelps going.
