Well, the Red Sox are about to draft one of the best players in the MLB draft. Maybe ever.
No, I have no idea who that is going to be. If you want real MLB draft analysis, talk to my guy Phil Perry.
But I have complete faith in the Sox this year. Why, you ask?
It's pretty simple.
Derek Lowe - one of the most unheralded Red Sox players in recent history (and dare I say, entire history?) - is representing the Sox tonight at the MLB Draft.
What does that mean exactly? Not sure. Lowe will probably go up to the podium and read off a name. But I'll be damned if anybody delivers the news with more poise than he.
The man earned the win in each series-clincher in the 2004 playoffs! If he pays for a single meal in Boston for the rest of his life, he's paid for one too many.
And if the Red Sox do in fact end up with a great pick tonight, the legend of Lowe will just continue.
