Crawford, Middlebrooks get Sunday off

BOSTONManager Bobby Valentine presented yet another different starting lineup for Sundays series finale against the Blue Jays.

Left fielder Carl Crawford and third baseman Will Middlebrooks will get the day off.

Crawford missed the first 89 games of the season with wrist and elbow injuries, while Middlebrooks has been nursing a nagging left hamstring.

Crawford may need regular days off throughout the rest of the season, Bobby Valentine said. The Red Sox manager also suggested that center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, who missed 79 games with a subluxation of his right shoulder and who sat out Saturdays game, may not need such monitoring.

Carls going to have to have some of these games off coming back, Valentine said. I dont know how much Jacoby's going to need. Again, Carl didn't have spring training and Jacoby did, so Jacoby had one day off yesterday. I dont know that hes going to need a whole bunch more.

Middlebrooks been playing a lot since the hamstring situation and this is day game after night game, might be tested, so I dont want to test it.

Daniel Nava is playing left field, batting second. Nick Punto is playing third base, batting ninth.
