It's time to take another look at whose stock is on the rise, and who needs to step it up in this week's edition of 3 Up, 3 Down.
Ortiz been on fire since coming off the DL. He has seven multi-hit games in that stretch and is hitting a ridiculous .465 with three home runs and 15 RBI.
He boasts a .489 OPS.
It's safe to say no one expected Ortiz to be this locked in after such a long layoff.
If people have been surprised with Ortiz, they have to be shocked at the production of Mike Carp.
Carp is currently riding a four-game hitting streak and owns a .464 batting average with two homers. He has five RBI in his last six games.
Lackey has also been better than expected, allowing three earned runs in two starts.
After missing all of last season, Lackey owns a 2.61 ERA with 12 strikeouts and only three walks.
In his outing on Friday, Doubront was rocked for six earned runs in only 3.2 IP. He allowed a staggering 12 hits and now has a bloated 5.67 ERA through five starts.
Pedroia has been good in the average department, hitting .304, but he's still looking for his first home run and he has just one hit in his last 14 AB. He's hitting only .071 in May.
Salty has only three multi-hit games this season his batting average reflects the struggles, sitting at .222 with three homers and eight RBI.
