Red Sox pitcher Chris Carpenter, who was acquired as compensation from the Cubs for Theo Epstein, will undergo elbow surgery tomorrow.

He tweeted on Wednesday that he would be operated on by Dr. James Andrews to remove a bone spur in his elbow.

He tweeted later: "Staying positive and prepared to work harder than ever to come back as soon as I can this season. dedication onamission redsoxnation"
