It’s been a little more than a week since the Boston Red Sox captured the World Series title, but already in the offseason, it is time to start thinking about next season.

And with that brings the talks of whether this Red Sox can win it all again next year.

Gary Tanguay and Steve Buckley discussed the possibility of that happening on Sports Tonight.

“As far as this year’s team goes, I think they can be better next year,” Buckley said. “Because they have pitching depth that was developed this year. That’s probably the key point. They can go nine deep.”

Another key for the Red Sox next year as it was this season is the play of Jon Lester atop the pitching rotation.

“I think that Jon Lester is going to be the difference because I think Jon Lester changed for good,” Tanguay said. “There have been times when he’s been up-and-down. But with what I saw at the end of the season and into the postseason and his mental state, I think that’s going to put him in the Hall of Fame. And I don’t think Jon Lester is going to struggle again, you know why, because his mind is right.”
