FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Craig Breslow pitched an inning in a minor league game, and according to Farrell "got through it fine.''

It was only Breslow's second game appearance this spring, as the Sox bring him along slowly in recognition of his workload last year.

"He had increased life to his stuff,'' reported Farrell. "I think the most important thing is the overall life to all his pitches through the strike zone, without overworking to generate that added velocity. He feels like he's in a good place physically.''

Breslow could either break with the team, or have a short stint in Pawtucket with Brandon Workman taking his spot temporarily in the bullpen.
