The Red Sox added depth to their bullpen on Friday night, trading with the White Sox for left-hander Matt Thornton. But the work on the bullpen may not be done quite yet.
Michael Felger, Ron Borges and Kirk Minihane sat down on Sports Sunday to discuss what needs to be done with the Red Sox bullpen. While they agreed that the team has depth in its bullpen, the one weakness is the lack of a true closer. Andrew Bailey and Koji Uehara have both filled that role with varying levels of success this season, but Borges thinks the team has to make a move.
"They have to do something," Borges said. "I know a lot of people in the Red Sox still think Bailey can do it. If he's going to do it, he better do it pretty quick."
The MLB trade deadline is July 31.
