The Xander Bogaerts era started last season and past postseason, as the Sox infielder got his feet wet in the Major Leagues. But while it started last season, it should take off this season.

Bogaerts has been coming up the ranks in the Sox system, and is rated the No. 2 top prospect overall by Baseball America. That hasn't gone to his head, as he's focused on doing his job.

"The chances of making the team was a bit difficult [last year]," Bogaerts said, "but this year I mean it's just about going out there and playing the game the right way and hopefully you get the job."

Bogaerts is thought to be the starting shortstop on the Sox Opoening Day roster, but he doesn't see it that way.

No I don't think so," Bogaerts said. "Whoever plays the best has a good chance of winning the job. I did good in the postseason but last year passed already, so focus on 2014 and having a good spring."
