FOXBORO -- The load on Andre Johnson's shoulders may have lightened some.

With the 27th overall pick, Houston selected former Clemson receiver DeAndre Hopkins. Smart move. Johnson's 1,598 yards on 112 catches last season falls under a cloud only when you consider one thing: he's 32. As for the rest of the stable, old reliable Kevin Walter (41 catches for 518 yards in 2012) was released in March. Behind him? Keshawn Martin (10 catches, 85 yards) and Lestar Jean (6 catches, 151 yards). They have two starts -- between them.

Needless to say, the Texans were expected to take a pass catcher in the first round. They got a good one in the 6-1, 214-pound "Nuke" Hopkins. He's got height, he's explosive off the line, he runs well and has impressive straight-line speed, he controls his body well. It was all good for 18 receiving touchdowns last year at Clemson, anyway.

Hopkins could make an immediate impact. The Patriots will see for themselves in Houston on December 1.
