Stevan Ridley had a key fumble in the second quarter of Sunday's 23-21 win over the Bills, and didn't see the field after that.

It's not the first fumble of Ridley's career, and it's becoming a bigger concern for the team.

Shane Vereen stepped in admirably, but is now out for a while after breaking a bone in his wrist and going on the team's IR with an intention to return.

So, does Ridley become the feature back Thursday night? Mike Giardi and Tom E. Curran discuss that and more.

"Well, Bill Belichick always says he has to do what's best for the team so in this instance the Patriots might have to say damn the message sending, we have to put Stevan Ridley on the field and expect him to play at the level that he can, which is simply protect the football," Curran said.

Giardi notes the "dogfight" offensively for the Patriots on Sunday. So who steps on Thursday?

"Who's going to be ready, that's the question," Curran said. "I think the Patriots would have been well-served if they had Aaron Dobson in the lineup yesterday. I know he's a rookie, and I know he had his ups and downs in the preseason, but his height and the ability to get up and get after it on the outside, might make it easier for Tom Brady to throw out there, instead of matching things up timing-wise with Kenbrell Thompkins."
