When the Patriots signed Tim Tebow back in June, the punch lines, and the speculation flew. There were more than a few raised eyebrows as well.
How would the Tebow circus fit with the "my way or the highway" philosophy of Bill Belichick?
Why bring in a quarterback when you have Tom Brady and a very promising backup in Ryan Mallet?
Why invite the distractions?
What position will Tebow play?
The list goes on and on.
But on Friday Tebow got his first look at Patriots training camp and the results were... mixed.
CSNNE Patriots Insider Tom E. Curran wasn't impressed with what he saw. In fact, the best he could say was "Tebow wasn't a complete disaster."
Two interceptions, a bounced pass and indecision highlighted the day.
But Greg Bedard differs in his analysis of Tebow's first day on the job.
"I didn't think he was that bad," said Bedard. "He was fine in individual drills when you could tell he's been working on some things.
"Once they got in team drills and he had to make decisions and read the defense and stuff like that, then he started holding the ball, patting the ball, throwing it to Nate Ebner right in the middle of the field where there was no receiver anywhere…"
But Bedard reminds us that the guy is new to the team.
"He doesn't know any of these receivers, he barely knows the offense… it's Day 1."
