The preseason is a time where starters can get reps that are, for the most part, meaningless in regards to their performance in the regular season. This offseason though, fans have had to pay a little more attention to these exhibition contests for one simple reason: a slew of injuries.

Broncos wide receiver Wes Welker was the latest in a line of players to be damaged in preseason play, as the 32-year-old suffered a sprained ankle in Saturday's 40-10 loss to the Seahawks, according to coach John Fox.

A source tells Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio that that sprain is a mild one, meaning Welker probably should be good to go for the start of the regular season.

It's been a brutal offseason already for the Broncos in regards to injuries. Losing Welker for any part of the regular season certainly is not in the plans in what should be a high-powered mile high offense.
