The Boston Globe's Ben Volin tweeted an update on Alfonzo Dennard's recent arrest in Lincoln, Neb. for suspicion of DUI.
More info on Dennard DUI arrest: Had 1-2 beers at home. Fell asleep from 9-1 am. Drove to girlfriend's house. Arrested 1/2 mile from home— Ben Volin (@BenVolin) July 28, 2013
Some belief that Lincoln (Neb.) police were targeting Dennard, who was previously arrested for assaulting an out-of-uniform police officer— Ben Volin (@BenVolin) July 28, 2013
The Patriots corner was convicted of felony assault on a Lincoln police officer in April of 2012 and sentenced to 30 days in prison for his actions -- a sentence which, for now, he is set to serve after the upcoming football season. He was also given two years probation for the assault.
In light of that altercation, which took place a week before he was drafted by the Patriots, it appears as though some are wondering if Lincoln police targeted Dennard when he was pulled over earlier this month.
Dennard will be back in Lincoln on Aug. 27 for a hearing to determine whether or not he violated his probation.
