Only the Patriots could host a couple of prospects 35 days before the draft and have people conclude they’re up to no good.

Johnny Manziel and Teddy Bridgewater have come and gone but the Larry David stare-down ain’t over.

“Just what WERE they dooooing?? It doesn’t make sensssseeee! They must be working some angle with Bill O’Briiiieennn!”

A source informed me Friday that the reason the team hosted Bridgewater and Manziel was to find out if they were any f****** good. My source goes by the alias, “Common sense.”

Well, Manziel and Bridgewater aren’t the only prospects the Patriots have invited in so they can implant listening recording devices behind the players’ eyelids to spy on the plans of “the other 31.”

Notre Dame defensive end Stephon Tuitt was in town on Thursday and here’s a list of the other players New England has either worked out or brought into their facility.

Keith Wenning, QB, (Ball State), Kelvin Benjamin, WR (Florida State), Mike Evans, WR (Texas A&M), C.J. Fiedorowicz, TE (Iowa), Dee Ford, DE (Auburn), Kevin Norwood, WR (Alabama), Avery Williamson, LB (Kentucky).

Also, according to Twitter, members of the Patriots staff are at BYU working out Cougars outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy, an impressive coverage linebacker.
