Steelers would be smart to snag Blount

Free agent running back LeGarrette Blount is in Pittsburgh on Friday and the Steelers would be wise to make it hard for Blount to walk out of there without a deal.
Currently, the Steelers have just Le’Veon Bell on their roster as an experienced back and he just has his rookie season of 2013 to point to.
Blount would be a little redundant to the 6-1, 244-pound Bell who averaged just 3.5 yards per carry behind the Steelers annually punchless offensive line.
But Blount’s potential shone through for the Patriots toward the end of the season and – if Pittsburgh is looking for a motivated back they can rely upon, Blount would be a good acquisition.
The running back market is incredibly depressed right now Knowshon Moreno just signed with the Dolphins on a one-year, $3M deal and he’s coming off a better season than Blount and has more diverse skills.
As a result, Blount is not going to cash in, which, for a former undrafted player in his first free agency tour as a veteran, has to be a little disconcerting.
Right now, Pittsburgh needs Blount more than the Patriots. But New England is facing the reality that both Stevan Ridley and Shane Vereen are up after this season, so an eye on the future could persuade the Patriots to bump up a bit if Blount gets a better offer from Pittsburgh.
I was told this week at the NFL Owners Meetings that the Patriots remain interested in having Blount return and will be monitoring his progress in Pittsburgh.
