Will the Patriots cut Vince Wilfork?
That's been the question asked of late, as Wilfork is set to make $7.5 million this season, with a $11.6 million cap hit. Those are big numbers - especially so when you consider the 325-pound Wilfork is coming off a torn Achilles injury.
(Former?) teammate Brandon Spikes spoke on NFL Network on Friday about his future - or lack thereof - with the Patriots, but also was asked about Wilfork's future with the team. While some believe that the Patriots will cut ties with Wilfork, he doesn't see it that way.
“I haven’t spoken with him but it definitely hurt me a lot to see him go down," Spikes said of Wilfork. "He’s definitely a big factor in the inside and the run game – he does it all. He’s very disruptive like myself, but if he hits the free agent [market] I’ll be shocked. The Patriots love him, the organization up there, Boston loves him. He’s been there for a while. Honestly I can’t see him leaving.”
