Brandon Spikes certainly hasn't left any of his trademark confidence behind in New England.
The new Bills middle linebacker met with reporters after Monday's OTA session and raved about his teammates on the defensive side of the ball. While he didn't make any specific predictions for how they'd perform in 2014, Spikes envisions himself as one of the leaders in the defensive huddle and has high hopes for the unit.
“Me personally that just comes with the territory at Mike linebacker you’re like the quarterback of the defense, and I embrace that role,” he said. “I’m just out here letting guys know I’m here and ready to get better and I’m all in. I think we’re going to shock the world this year so I’m anxious. And I think the defense is anxious too so I think we’re going to open some eyes.”
According to reports from Western New York, Spikes has been working with the Bills' first team defense as well as in their nickel package -- something he didn't do much of in New England. Spikes also told reporters that he's working in on special teams for the first time since middle school.
"Like I said, I'm all in," Spikes said. "Whatever they ask me to do, I'm going to try to get it done at a high level . . . I just know you've got to keep your head on a swivel working on special teams."
