FOXBORO -- Like Bill Belichick, Mike Shanahan has coached Albert Haynesworth. And like Belichick, Shanahan released the defensive lineman.
In a conference call on Wednesday, the Redskins coach said that he wasn't surprised to see the way Haynesworth's time in New England ended, pointing out that when the Redskins released Haynesworth, it was "completely different" from the release of Andre Carter.
"Andre Carter was the most accountable guy that you could be around," said Shanahan. "He's a pro. With Albert, it didn't take long to figure out that, you've got everybody who buys into a system, and it didn't take long to figure out that he wasn't buying in. So that was an easy decision."
