Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is tied directly to the homicide investigation of 27-year-old Odin Lloyd, of Dorchester, Mass., whose body was found a mile from the player's North Attleboro, Mass., home, according to TV station Fox25 in Boston.

Law enforcement officials told the station that Hernandez, Lloyd and two other men were at a bar in Boston the night of Lloyd's death and the four men left together in a car driven by Hernandez. That information was confirmed by a text message that Lloyd sent another friend, a separate law enforcement source told Fox25.

According to the source, only three men returned to Hernandez's home the night of Lloyd's death and Lloyd wasn't one of them. Also, a source said forensic evidence places a vehicle driven by Hernandez at one of the crime scenes in the case.

Mass. State troopers returned to Hernandez home Wednesday morning but it is unclear if he was questioned again. Several media reports Wednesday said Hernandez hasn't been ruled out a a suspect.

Also, Wednesday TMZ reported Hernandez was sued by a man who said he was shot in the face by Hernandez after an altercation at a Miami strip club. SI.com reported that NFL personnel sources say teams were relcutant to draft Hernandez out of Florida in 2010 because of alleged ties to gangs in his hometown of Bristol, Conn.

Hernandez's lawyer, Michael Fee, released this statement on Wednesday:

“It has been widely reported in the media that the state police have searched the home of our client, Aaron Hernandez, as part of an ongoing investigation.  Out of respect for that process, neither we nor Aaron will have any comment about the substance of that investigation until it has come to a conclusion.”
