The Denver Broncos' defensive unit may have been dealt a huge blow.

Linebacker Von Miller, whom the NFL Network ranked as the ninth-best player this year, is facing a four-game suspension for violating NFL policy, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Miller, the No. 2 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, ranked third in the league with 18.5 sacks and six forced fumbles last season. The 24-year-old from Texas A&M earned the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year two years ago after recording 11.5 sacks.

Schefter said the case is currently in the appeals process.

The Broncos already lost linebacker Elvis Dumervil, who spent six seasons in Denver and averaged more than 10 sacks per season, to the Baltimore Ravens.
