Jets' McElroy rips ‘selfish' teammates

While the Jets have managed to keep fairly quiet -- save for an expletive or two hurled at media members -- following their implosion, a rookie from within New York's locker room has broken the silence.

Greg McElroy, a seventh-round draft pick who spent his first year in the NFL on injured reserve after suffering a thumb injury, checked in with 97.3 The Zone in Birmingham, Ala. to skewer his dysfunctional team on Wednesday morning.

"It was not a fun place to be, I can assure you," McElroy said of the Jets' locker room. "It's the first time I've ever been around extremely selfish individuals. I think that's maybe the nature of the NFL. But there were people in the locker room that didn't care whether we won or lost as long as their -- they had good games individually.

"That's the disappointing thing. It's going to take a lot to try to come together next year. I think the fact that we struggled at times this year, really led to a really just corrupt mindset locker room. I know we're gonna regroup and I know we're gonna be a better team (next year) just because of the trials and tribulations this year."
