One week before the New England Patriots bye week, they tried to improve their team at the trade deadline.
The Patriots acquired defensive tackle Isaac Sopoaga from the Philadelphia Eagles for a fifth and sixth-round pick in the 2014 draft.
While it wasn’t a splashy move, Paul Perillo on Patriots Football Weekly believes it was the right move to make.
“This is the kind of guy that can come in, he can help out those kids up front,” Perillo said. “With Vince Wilfork out of the lineup, the Patriots needed to find a way to stop the run, Sopoaga will help.”
With the Patriots offense struggling throughout the season, the Patriots have been able to put up decent offensive numbers in large part to Stephen Gostkowski converting 20-of-21 field goal attempts this season.
“The reason why the Patriots are 6-2 and finding a way to get enough points is because their kicker has been their best player on offense,” Perillo said.
