Things have not gone well for the New England Patriots’ defense and it showed again on Sunday versus the Cleveland Browns.
However, on Patriots Football Weekly, Paul Perillo points out an improvement in play from the Patriots’ linebackers against the Browns.
“[Dont’a] Hightower especially, I thought he looked a little more active and definitely more decisive,” Perillo said. “He was calling the plays in the defensive huddle. He’s gotten a lot of heat over the last several weeks for not being where he is supposed to be.”
Switching to the offensive side of the ball, Perillo believes the Patriots need to go back to running the ball with Rob Gronkowski out for the rest of the season.
“I think it might be time to turn back to Stevan Ridley,” Perillo said. “I think you might need to run the ball a little bit more. I think that was the plan earlier in the year when Gronk was out. I think they relied a little bit more heavily on the running game. And I think if you are going to do that, it only makes sense to give the ball to Ridley.”
