No matter which way you look at it, Wes Welker's hit on Aqib Talib was legal.
That's how the NFL's former director of officiating Mike Pereira felt when he spoke to Felger and Mazz over a week after the play occurred.
Offensive pass interference? Nope. Hit on a defenseless player? No. But even if Talib were defenseless, Welker didn't do anything wrong.
If anything, Welker's hit came early, but it was so close to being simultaneous with the arrival of the ball to intended receiver Demaryius Thomas that it would be impossible to call and get right without guessing.
