The New England Patriots have not been able to escape the injury bug this season.

Suffering from injuries on both the offensive and defensive lines, the Patriots have had players fill in and contribute right away.

Paul Perillo discussed the players that have filled the void on Patriots Football Weekly.

“Injuries are starting to become a problem on the offensive line as well,” Perillo said. “Marcus Cannon was already subbing in for Sebastian Vollmer, and then he went out with an ankle injury. And that opened up an opportunity for Will Svitek.

“I thought he really solidified things. The second half, the pressure the Broncos were getting in the first half, kind of disappeared a little bit. I thought Svitek did a nice job stemming the tide and he might need to depending on how long Cannon is out.”

Obviously, the defense has had its share of injuries, giving rookie Jamie Collins a chance to step up against the Broncos.

“He’s been pretty quiet so far, hasn’t had a lot of chances,” Perillo said. “But I thought he was pretty effective in those underneath zones disrupting Wes Welker and Eric Decker, some of those shallow crossing routes that Denver likes to use.”
