FOXBORO -- The Patriots have signed wide receiver LaQuan Williams.
The 6-foot Williams was with the Ravens in 2011 and 2012 but only has four NFL catches -- all in 2011 -- to show for it. He is a special teams coverage player as well.
The 25-year-old was released by the Ravens at the end of training camp after suffering a strained hamstring. He worked out for the Patriots and Raiders recently.
The Patriots announced on Tuesday that they released wideout Austin Collie. The wideout suffered a knee injury Sunday against the Steelers. The chance exists that Collie worked out an injury settlement and -- after passing through waivers -- will be free to re-sign with the Patriots when his knee is back in shape.
The team announced the signing of running back Cierre Wood to the practice squad. Wood was released by the Texans on Oct. 21 after making the 53-man roster as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame. He played in three regular-season games for Houston, during which he totaled three rushing attempts for nine yards.
