New England signed running back George Winn Monday evening. He was originally signed by Houston after the draft, but waived after rookie mini-camp.
Winn, who's listed at 5-foot-11 and 210-pounds, was recruited to Cincinnati by former Bearcats coach, current Notre Dame head man, and friend of Bill Belichick, Brian Kelly. As a starter in 2012, Winn had 243 rushes for 1,334 yards and 13 touchdowns.
The Patriots have now filled 88 of 90 roster spots. Winn will at least be a camp body, as fellow running back Brandon Bolden's status remains uncertain because of a foot injury that kept him out of spring practices.
