New England announced the signing of rookie free agent OL Jon Opperud on Friday. The Patriots roster now holds 89 of 90 possible players.
Opperud was a three-year starter for Montana, playing left guard before being moved to left tackle for his last two years.

The 6-7, 300-pounder was originally signed by Seattle on April 29. He was released earlier this week.
