The Patriots announced on Saturday afternoon that they've released undrafted rookie receiver Cole Stanford. The move means the Patriots have one open spot on their 90-man roster that may be filled.
The Patriots signed Stanford, from Cal Poly, on Sunday. At 6-foot-2 and 225 pounds he was a dual threat in college as slot back. He rushed 54 times for 314 yards and one score, and he caught 43 passes for 891 yards and eight touchdowns in his career.
The Patriots have churned the bottom of their 90-man roster pretty actively in the first week of camp and will, most likely, continue to do so over the next few weeks as the cut to 75 comes in the final week of August.
