FOXBORO -- The Patriots announced on Thursday that both tight end Tyler Beck and long snapper Charley Hughlett have been released.
Beck was signed as an undrafted free agent following last weekend's NFL draft. At 6-foot-2, 257 pounds, he was projected by some as a fullback or an H-back in the NFL. He had 10 catches for 177 yards as a senior at Bowling Green and was named Academic All-MAC.
Hughlett was signed back in March as a free agent, but his spot on the roster was likely destined to be freed up once the Patriots and Harvard's undrafted long snapper Tyler Ott reportedly reached an agreement.
Last season's starting long snapper, Danny Aiken, reached a one-year extension with the Patriots earlier this offseason.
