The Patriots released safety Adrian Wilson, the team announced on Friday.

He played exactly zero regular season games with the club after signing a three-year, $5 million deal last season. Wilson tore his Achilles in the preseason finale last season, putting him on season-ending IR.

Wilson sent out a couple Tweets prior to the team making the official announcement.

"Can't make the club in the tub" he first wrote, which was then followed by, "Thankyou to the Patriots organization for the opportunity. I look forward to the future."

Wilson is a 13-year NFL veteran, 12 years with the Cardinals before the Patriots. He has played in 181 career games with 162 starts and compiled 716 tackles, 25½ sacks and 27 interceptions in his 12 years.

The Patriots signed safety Patrick Chung on Thursday.
