The Patriots announced on Wednesday that they released offensive lineman R.J. Mattes.
The 6-foot-6, 315-pound 24-year-old out of NC State was signed to the practice squad back in late December after bouncing on and off the roster a couple of times last season.
He was signed originally back on May 13 of last year before being released 10 days later. He signed again on June 3 of last year but was released again before the end of training camp in August.
The Patriots now have 89 players on the roster, leaving room for the team to add a player if it so chooses.
