The Patriots announced today that they have re-signed restricted free agent tight end Michael Hoomanawanui.
Hoomanawanui was signed by New England as a free agent on Sept. 5, 2012 and played in 14 games, starting six. He finished the season with 5 receptions for 109 yards.
Hoomanawanui was pressed into action due to injuries to the team's tight ends Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski. He also played out of the backfield and served as a lead blocker in various Patriots packages.
