Wednesday the Patriots announced new deals for cornerback Marquice Cole and linebacker Niko Koutivides.
Cole carved out a role in New England as a backup slot corner gunner on the punt unit. The 29-year old is a veteran of four NFL seasons, joining the Patriots as a free agent on March 19, 2012. He played in 14 games (starting one) last season to make 51 for his career. Cole proved a solid depth player, recording 26 tackles, three interceptions, and 43 special teams tackles.
Koutivides, 31, earned his one-year extension as another valuable special teamer. The linebacker was cut after training camp, but re-signed on September 19 to play in New England's final 14 regular season and two postseason games. The 6-foot-2, 228-pounder had one defensive and nine special teams tackle for the Patriots.
Koutouvides has 63 total and 118 special teams tackles over 125 games spanning nine seasons.
