FOXBORO -- The Patriots announced Thursday Josh Boyce was placed on season-ending injured reserve. The receiver has been sidelined since injuring an ankle in New England's Week 15 loss to Miami.
Boyce, a rookie, started three of nine games played and finished with nine catches for 121 yards. He also returned nine kickoffs for 214 yards.
A roster move was expected as Austin Collie was spotted at New England's morning practice. Collie originally signed with the Patriots October 3, was released November 5, then re-signed on December 5. The fifth-year veteran was released a second time less than a week ago. He has six catches for 63 yards in seven games this season.
