Will the Patriots be able to survive with another key player going down with a season-ending injury?
Rob Gronkowski was the latest Patriot to sustain a major injury as he tore his ACL and MCL in his right knee.
Andy Hart and Paul Perillo debated on Patriots Football Weekly if the Patriots will be able to overcome the Gronkowski injury and make it to the Super Bowl.
“The camel’s back has officially broken,” Hart said. “You just can’t lose this many All-Pros and expect things to be fine because ‘we have [Bill] Belichick, we have [Tom] Brady. We’re just going to roll out of bed and win a couple playoff games in a row and go to the Super Bowl and win it.’ It’s not that easy. I know other teams are flawed but you’re just dropping like flies and you do not have the bullets in the gun anymore.”
On the other hand, Perillo believes the Patriots still have a chance to do something special this season.
“The league in general is down,” Perillo said. “There is not a lot to choose from the best and the worst and the so-called in-between. So I think that gives you a puncher’s chance right there.
“The second part – and this might just be more of a feeling or something, I might not have anything to back it up – team’s that find ways to win games the way the Patriots have found ways to win consistently this year, those are championship kind of teams.”
