Patriots add cancer survivor Cannon to active roster

Patriots coach Bill Belichick provided no update on injured cornerback Devin McCourty (shoulder) in a conference call on Tuesday. He did, however, say that linebacker Dane Fletcher (thumb) is "coming along" and is "making good progress."

Belichick also said that the Patriots planned on activating rookie offensive lineman Marcus Cannon to the team's 53-man roster. Cannon was a fifth-round draft pick despite being diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma before the draft. His cancer is now in remission.

The Patriots activated Cannon Tuesday afternoon and released safety Ross Ventrone to make space on the roster.

It is the sixth time Ventrone has been released since the lockout ended.

Major League Baseball is reportedly set to release more PED testing results, but Mike Felger is growing increasingly more confident in the fact that David Ortiz is clean. He's passing all the tests, isn't he?
