The Patriots have reportedly added an additional running back to their stable in Indiana's Stephen Houston.
Bloomington Herald-Times' Dustin Dopirak reported that Houston reached an agreement with New England as an undrafted free agent.
Judging by his number's at Indiana's pro day, Houston could have competed athletically with any back who was invited to the Combine.
At 5-foot-10 and 225 pounds, he ran a 4.5-second 40-yard dash. His broad jump (11 feet) would have been second among running backs at the Combine, while his 24 reps on the 225-pound bench test and vertical leap (40 inches) would have placed him third.
As a senior he ran for 753 yards on 112 attempts (6.7 yards per attempt) and five touchdowns. He also caught 65 passes over the course of his college career, and he got some experience returning kicks for the Hoosiers.
Another thing that couldn't have hurt Houston in the eyes of Patriots scouts: He won Indiana's Howard Brown "Dedication to IU Football" Award last season.
