A day after Mike and Maurkice Pouncey were photographed wearing "Free Hernandez" hats, at least one of them has apologized.

Maurkice, the elder of the two in terms of time spent in the NFL, spoke out on the controversy Wednesday, stating his remorse for the action in a tweet.

The full text of the tweet goes: "I fully recognize the seriousness of the situation involving my former teammate, and I regret that my actions appear to make light of that serious situation. I apologize to anyone who was offended by my actions."

The Steelers center has been the most productive part of a mediocre offensive line in Pittsburgh, but his involvement with Hernandez has left him in a bit of hot water lately. Before this hat-wearing incident, Maurkice's name came up in regards to an unsolved 2007 Gainesville shooting in which Hernandez has recently been linked.

As for Mike, his name also came up in that report and he was seen with a "Free Hernandez" hat just like his brother. Mike is yet to apologize, but if we've learned anything about the NFL and PR over the last two days, it will likely be coming soon.
