Here's the third in a series of looks at impending free agents and how they might fit in with the Patriots' needs. Yesterday we hit on linebackers, and the day before that, the defensive backs. Today we're looking at the defensive line.

DT: Vince Wilfork, Kyle Love, Brandon Deaderick, Armond Armstead, Jason Vega, Marcus Fortson
DE: Chandler Jones, Rob Ninkovich, Jermaine Cunningham, Justin Francis

DT: Myron Pryor,
DE: Trevor Scott
The Patriots seem to be in pretty good shape along the interior defensive line. They need to plan for the sunset of Vince Wilfork’s NFL tenure – which isn’t looming quite yet – but that’s probably best done through the draft. An experienced edge rusher to complement the guys they have would be a boon, though, and there are players to be had there. Defensive tackle is not a strong free agent class.
DT: Desmond Bryant, Alan Branch.
DE: Cliff Avril, John Abraham, Osi Umenyiora, Dwight Freeney, Michael Bennett
DT: Jason Jones, Richard Seymour
DE: Israel Idonije, Andre Carter, Matt Roth,
