LaQuan Williams, a wide receiver signed by the Patriots last week, left Baltimore with some legal issues pending.
The 25-year-old had a civil lawsuit filed against him November 1 seeking $1 million in damages, according to the Baltimore Sun.
Williams signed with the Patriots on November 5.
According to the complaint, Williams and his entourage of about 30 people were at a strip joint in Washington, D.C. when they were escorted out after allegedly smoking weed in the club.
Once in the parking lot, Williams allegedly attacked a security guard and then other members of the entourage joined in the beating and prevented the security guard initially attacked by Williams from receiving any assistance.
The suit certainly raises a red flag next to Williams’ name and the acquisition doesn’t reconcile itself with July comments made by Patriots owner Robert Kraft who told a select group of reporters in the wake of Aaron Hernandez’ murder arrest that, “you can be sure we'll be looking at our procedures and auditing how we do things.”
