On Thursday, Ed Reed, who was recently cut by the Houston Texans, signed with the New York Jets.
Reed said the Patriots also wanted to sign him, but according to Tom E. Curran, a source told him the Patriots did not have interest in Reed.
Curran on Quick Slants talked about why the Patriots are better off without Reed.
“I don’t blame the Patriots in the least,” said Curran on why it was a smart move for the Patriots to pass on Reed. “If you signed Ed Reed right now, you’d be in a position where you are paying him about at least the veteran’s minimum. But, you are also in the midst of a playoff run having to make room for him to find out exactly what he can and cannot do. I don’t know if the Patriots have the time for that.”
