Josh McDaniels doesn’t want to be the head coach of the Cleveland Browns.
The Patriots offensive coordinator removed his name from consideration for the vacant job in Cleveland just three days after interviewing with the Browns in Massachusetts. Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the news.
Now, whether or not the Browns’ wanted McDaniels isn’t yet known. So far, all McDaniels did was acknowledge he had the interview. The Browns, meanwhile, continue to kick over rocks in search of their new head coach.
While the Browns have some pieces in place that would appeal to a candidate, the haste with which they ejected Rob Chudzinski didn’t sit well with the team. After a disastrous end in Denver to his first head-coaching stint, McDaniels needs to make sure his next head coaching job isn’t rife with potential land mines that will doom his candidacy before it gets rolling.
