PROVIDENCE, RI -- Josh McDaniels was at Lillian Feinstein Elementary School in Providence Wednesday on behalf of the Patriots Charitable Foundation. New England's offensive coordinator read a couple of books to the assembled students and voiced a strong vote for literacy.
Afterward, he met briefly with reporters. McDaniels just barely touched on where the organization is at now, in mid-April.
"We spend a lot of time evaluating at this time of year -- our system, and the upcoming draft. And it's really a part of the year that's full of reflection and looking at some things to maybe make our organization better. And also an opportunity for us to do some of these things, too, in the community."
It was made explicitly clear that football was off-topic this time.
"I'm not going to talk about that today," he laughed. "This is strictly about community and reading."
