FOXBORO -- Game day activation for receiver Josh Boyce (left ankle) and safety Devin McCourty (concussion) is in serious doubt as both players were not spotted at Friday practice. The week's final session, held on the lower grass fields behind Gillette, marked the third-consecutive absences for the pair.

A new player was out with the team, running back Sam McGuffie. The 24-year old was originally signed by the Raiders as a rookie free agent out of Rice. He was released August 26 and picked up by Arizona's practice squad.  McGuffie was then released by the Cardinals September 17.  The 5-10, 200-pounder had 54 catches for 603 yards as a slot receiver his senior year.

Practice squad running back Cierre Wood was released to make room for McGuffie.

New England's full practice participation and injury report, complete with projected game statuses, should be released around 4 p.m.
