Robert Kraft joined Mike Felger and Tony Massarotti on their show Friday afternoon, where he spoke upon a number of Patriots topics.
But if you were looking for a "rah rah" type of speech that made it seem like the Pats were going to "load up" and bring in a bunch of talent to surround Tom Brady with, think again.
It sounded like Kraft and the Patriots plan to stick with their usual plan of piecing together a solid team but not break the bank like some other teams.
"I think the big takeaway is that I didn't feel like there's going to be any major shift or change in the team's philosophy with regards to how they're going to approach this offseason just because the clock is ticking on Tom Brady," Massarotti said. "That's the part I look at and say it wouldn't necessarily hurt to have a little uptick there and intensity or urgency to put more weapons around Brady because he doesn't grow on trees. So even though Kraft says none of this is about one player, well in the NFL it kind of is when it's your quarterback. So I just would have liked to have seen a different answer there, but maybe they're thinking it and they're just not saying it."
